Our teachers and staff are dedicated to providing your child a fun and enjoyable quality classroom experience. ELC parents have consistently identified the faculty as the number one reason for choosing and staying at MPC Early Learning Center. We maintain a student-teacher ratio 8:1 in our program, except for our Parents Morning Out where we maintain a student- teacher ratio of 4:1. Although we have over 100 students, we take pride in getting to know our students and families individually!

Our diverse staff of teachers comes with a wonderful blend of experience and knowledge in early childhood development. They provide children with stimulating and developmentally appropriate experiences in an engaging environment. Our teachers love play-based education because they too can get down on the floor and play with the students – there is something new to learn every day. Because our teachers love to learn and show their enthusiasm every day, so too will your child!

Our teachers love to work at ELC, which is evident in the longevity of our staff. Over half our staff of 15 teachers have been here between 8 and 17 years, and our pool of substitutes includes 3 staff members that recently retired after working here for 20 years. Hiring a few new staff each year brings vitality and growth to our program, as new teachers bring new ideas. Our teachers are contracted annually for each school year.

Our teaching staff consists of experienced early childhood professionals. Our teachers are not simply “educated”, because learning does not end. Each staff member receives a minimum of 18 hours of continuing education every year (some earn over 90 hours per year!). Many of our staff are trained in CPR and First Aid. We also have a minimum of 2 staff that have completed Virginia’s Medication Administration Training for child day programs.

We value our teachers and know they are the foundation to a successful school. Our teachers are truly committed to the mission and philosophy of ELC.

Our teachers:

❤ Treat all students with respect and fairness at all times.
❤ Teach, through modeling and scaffolding, expected behaviors in the classroom.
❤ Contact parents directly and promptly if there are significant achievements or challenges to be shared.
❤ Respond promptly and appropriately to parent phone calls and emails.
❤ Follow school policies and practices to ensure consistency throughout the school.
❤ Respect the privacy and confidentiality of our students and their families.
❤ Work to continually improve teaching skills for the benefit of all.
❤ Support each child’s development on an individual level – not as a part of a group or in comparison with their peers.
